Grassroots stage. Introduction to the game through play, with an emphasis on comfort on the ball and enjoying training.
How training is structured at Queenkay Stars FC, which age groups we run, and what happens between a player's first session and their first competitive matchday.
The pathway
Every player joins at the stage that fits them and moves up when the coaching staff judge they are ready. Nobody is pushed up early to fill a squad.
Ball mastery, balance and coordination through small-sided games. Sessions are short, high-repetition and deliberately fun — the aim is a child who wants to come back next week.
Focus: first touch · dribbling · basic passing · listening and teamwork
The technical base gets tested under pressure. Players learn positions, shape and when to release the ball, and start building the fitness that competitive football demands.

Age groups
Squads are grouped by age band. If your child sits on the edge of two bands, the coaching staff will place them after a trial session.

Late grassroots into early development. Technique becomes deliberate, and players start learning roles within a team.
Development stage. Structured sessions on passing patterns, defending as a unit and decision-making at speed.
Development into competitive. Physical conditioning increases, and squad selection becomes performance-based.
Competitive stage. Full match preparation, tactical work and the standards expected of players representing the club.
Contact the club with your child's age and experience. The coaching staff will recommend a group and invite them to a trial session.

One theme per session — passing, finishing, defending, transitions — coached and corrected.
Small-sided or full-sided games applying the session theme under pressure.
Stretch, plus a short debrief so players leave knowing what to work on.
